Your catalog
Editions and formats
Each format of a book is an edition with its own price, ISBN and way of reaching the reader. Set your default formats and prices once.
An edition is one format of a title: the ebook, the audiobook, the paperback or the hardcover. A cookbook might have only a hardcover. A novel might have all four.
Default formats and prices
Under Store settings, Formats, switch on the formats you usually sell and give each a default price. Every new title gets an edition for each format switched on here. You can still change each title afterwards.
For print formats you also pick the default way they reach readers.
How each format reaches readers
| Format | How it reaches the reader |
|---|---|
| Ebook | A file the reader downloads |
| Audiobook | A file the reader downloads or plays |
| Paperback, hardcover | Print on demand, or shipped from your own stock |
Print on demand sends the book to BookVault or Lulu. Own stock means you post copies yourself.
Special editions and signed copies also appear in the format list, shipped from your own stock. The tools around them, like a queue of copies to sign, are coming.
Edit an edition
Open a title in Books. Each edition has a card with:
- Price in your store currency.
- ISBN, optional.
- For sale. Untick it to stop selling that edition without removing it.
- Save and Remove edition.
To add a format the title doesn’t have yet, pick it next to Add edition.
Ready to sell
Each card shows Ready to sell or Not ready:
- An ebook or audiobook is ready once it has at least one file.
- A print-on-demand edition is ready once its print details are saved.
- An edition from your own stock is ready while you have copies on hand.
- An edition that is not for sale is never ready.
