Street team

Also called launch team

A street team is a group of fans who help spread the word about an author's books, sharing posts, telling friends and talking up release day.

What it means

A street team helps with promotion, not only reviews. Members share your cover reveal, post about release day, ask their library to order the book and recommend it in reader groups. Many authors run the team as a private Facebook group or a Discord server.

An urban fantasy author might give street team members early cover art, a bonus scene and a chance to name a side character. A self-help author might run a launch team that shares quotes from the book on LinkedIn during launch week. A children’s author might ask parents on the team to bring the book to their school.

A street team often overlaps with an ARC team, but not always. Some members only share; some only review.

Why it matters when you sell direct

When you sell from your own store, you need people to send readers there. A street team can share your store links, not only retailer links. When you run a launch with a discount code or a bundle on your store, the team is the first group to hear about it.

How Lanternbee handles it

Lanternbee does not run a street team for you. What it gives you: your own store links to share, discount codes you can hand to the team, and a reader list where you can tag members and send them broadcasts.

Perks for members, such as a special edition or a signed copy, are on the way: signed copies and special-edition campaigns are coming to Lanternbee.
