Moving your storeLive

Bring your Shopify store over in one go.

Moving off Shopify by hand means retyping every book and losing who bought what. The importer reads your Shopify store and rebuilds it as a bookstore. You check a preview first, and nothing changes in Shopify.

What it does in Lanternbee

  • Reads your Shopify store with read-only access. Nothing in Shopify changes.
  • Groups products into books and editions, so “Book One (Ebook)” and “Book One (Paperback)” become one book with two editions.
  • Guesses formats from product names, like paperback, hardcover, audiobook or signed, and puts books into series.
  • Brings over covers, readers, their earlier purchases, your order history and your discount codes.
  • Readers find the ebooks and audiobooks they bought on Shopify in their Lanternbee library. No emails go out to them.
  • Old Shopify product links send readers to the matching book page.

Limits

  • Ebook and audio files are not copied from Shopify. Delivery apps hold those, so you upload them once.
  • Titles come in as drafts. You publish them when you are happy.
  • You can run the importer again. It updates what it brought before instead of making copies.
  • Shopify bills until you deactivate the store. Deactivating uninstalls Shopify apps, but apps that bill you outside Shopify must be cancelled on their own sites.

How to set it up

  1. Connect your Shopify store

In Lanternbee, choose Move from Shopify and sign in to Shopify to allow read access.

  2. Check the preview

See your products grouped into books, editions and series. Skip a product, change a format or move a book to another series.

  3. Import

Confirm, and everything comes over as drafts for you to check.

  4. Upload your book files

Add the ebook and audio files to each edition, and print files for print on demand.

  5. Switch your address

Point your shop address at Lanternbee. Then cancel Shopify and the apps you no longer need.
